Seasonal Journaling Workshop with Lindsay Johnstone

Thursday 9th October 6.30 - 8.00pm

This 90-minute workshop is an introduction to a journaling practice inspired by , the Japanese tradition that divides the calendar year into 72 micro-seasons. Each lasts four or five days and is associated with specific seasonal rituals, foods, flowers and festivals. 

Through a series of multi-sensory prompts and readings that reimagine this concept for our own climate and ecology, you'll experience the mindful benefits that come from look closely at and responding to the changing world around you. In the inspiring, creative environment of This Must be the Place, you'll experience the ways ritual can further support a mediative state when writing by hand. You'll also explore how engaging in a sustained seasonal writing practice can be viewed as a radical act in our urban, digital, fast-paced and fragmentary world.

This workshop is for you no matter if you're new to journaling and curious about the benefits, a seasoned journal-keeper, or keen to change up your approach to expressive writing. All materials provided, including a beautiful notebook and pen along with a guide to help you maintain your practice over the coming weeks and months.

Tutor:

Lindsay is an award-winning life writer and facilitator based in Glasgow. Her work explores the relationship between people and place at the intersection of motherhood, midlife and mental health. She was the winner of the John Byrne Award in 2023, was shortlisted for the Writing Award at the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival in 2022 and is one of the non-fiction writers selected for the inaugural two-year Advanced Writing Programme at Arvon - England's national writing centre. She has been published in Fieldfare, Motherlore and Breathe Magazines and, as well as writing on her global top 100 Substack publication - What Now? with Lindsay Johnstone - also facilitates journaling, expressive writing and memoir courses for her global community.

If you are unable to attend a workshop you have purchased a ticket for you may cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before the event. If any cancellations are made with less than 24 hours we are unable to offer a refund.
